Cold Brewed Resentment
—a slow, simmering grudge
Brewed overnight, left to steep,
In silence dark and flavors deep.
No hiss, no heat, no warning shot,
Just time, and all the things you’re not.
You pour it cold, you call it bold,
But really, it’s just anger old.
The kind that’s smooth, but never kind,
That coats the throat and clogs the mind.
You drink it black, with eyes cast low,
Pretending not to feel the slow
Return of thoughts you meant to drown,
But bitterness won’t stay down.
You sip. You smile. You think you’ve grown.
But even chilled, it’s all your own.
📜 Cold Brewed Resentment – The Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 oz Cold Brew Concentrate (steeped at least 16 hours, or since the last time you spoke your mind)
- ½ oz Black Walnut Syrup (dark, earthy, stubborn)
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters (optional, but you know you’ll use it)
- Garnish: A single ice cube, oversized and melting slowly—like your resolve
Instructions:
Stir cold brew and syrup with a single dash of bitters. Serve in a thick glass over one large ice cube. Do not add cream—you’ve already softened enough.
Sip in silence, ideally while staring at someone who “didn’t mean it that way.”
