—A cocktail that tastes the same at the start and the finish, even if the journey in between feels reversed.
It opened dark, with smoke and bite,
Then turned to cream, then back to night.
The mezcal spoke in amber tone,
A shadow cast, but not alone.
Coffee bloomed with bitter grace,
Then egg laid silk across its face.
The sugar swirled, the spice returned,
And every step retraced, re-learned.
You sipped. The start became the end.
The finish curled back ’round the bend.
You couldn’t say where it began,
Just that you’d drink it all again.
And as the glass grew clean and slick,
You smiled; “That loop was neat. And quick.”
