—A tall glass that won’t end; gin, lemon, and soda stretching into recursive laughter that never lands.
The lemon cut, the gin was poured,
the glass a tower, tall and stored.
Soda rose, then fell, then climbed,
a loop that mocked the drinking mind.
Each sip began a fresher start,
a joke retold that split apart.
The bubbles laughed, the ice conspired,
and every swallow left you tired.
You raised the glass, it filled again,
the jest returned, the same refrain.
But no one laughed, no one could see,
the joke was glass, the joke was me.
The punchline waits, but does not fall.
The cycle drinks, the cycle all.
📜 Infinite Jest Collins – The Recipe
- 2 oz London Dry Gin
- 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ¾ oz Simple Syrup
- 3–4 oz Soda Water
- Garnish: Long spiral of lemon peel coiled endlessly down into the glass
Instructions:
Build gin, lemon, and syrup over ice in a tall Collins glass. Top with soda water, stir once. Drop in the endless lemon spiral so it disappears beneath the bubbles and reemerges at the rim. Serve with the uneasy sense it may never be finished.
