—what once burned now glows faintly; bourbon, Campari, and vermouth smoldering in the ruins.
The bourbon struck like fallen beams,
Campari bled in ember streams.
Vermouth held low, a shadowed hymn,
the smoke of endings folded in.
You raised the glass; it smelled of dusk,
of wood long burned, of iron rust.
Each sip a coal that cracked, then died,
yet heat remained, though light had lied.
The fire was gone, but not the pain,
its echo lived in tongue and vein.
And when the last black drop was through,
the ashes whispered back to you.
