-Two children watch mischievous star rats turn the solar system into a chaotic picnic before Earth wisely hides its cookies and bolts the door.
Two children looked up at the star-sprinkled night,
When a peppermint rocket came bouncing in sight.
The hatch opened wide with a squeak and a splat,
Then out marched the star rats, each wearing a hat.
They nibbled the Moon into wedges of cheese,
Then burped shiny bubbles that bobbed past their knees.
They bounced little Mars like a big rubber ball,
Till Saturn cried, “Careful! You’ll flatten us all!”
Their captain wore socks and a pot for a crown,
And warned, “Keep your crackers from floating around!”
But one small rat sneezed and his snack pocket tore,
So crackers flew straight to blue Neptune next door.
They waved from their rocket and shouted, “Next year!”
The children all clapped while the planets groaned, “Oh dear!”
The rats squeaked, “We’ll come back and bring even more!”
Then Earth hid its cookies and bolted the door.
